The history of anime begins in the early 20th century, when Japanese filmmakers experimented with the animation techniques that were being explored at the time in France, Germany, athe United States, and Russia.

Japanese artists were mainly influenced with Disney's work in the early ages. Disney's Success only fueled their drive to get into the business.

Many animators in japan adapted and simplified many of Disney's techniques to be able to produce one episode a week with their inexperienced staff.

The anime boom happended in the 1970s. Manga which fuled animation (anime) was at its height in popularity. As a result some artists emerged to create a giant robot genre(mecha for those outside japan). Gundam, and Macross later become instant classics in the 80s. Still to this day you're able to find variations of the first series. Be it Gundam W, Or Macross Plus.
