Alot of people who are getting into the anime scene ask, Whats a good anime? Obvisouly people have different tastes for everything and no two people are created the same. The basics of choosing and Anime you'd like I believe are quite simple.

The first thing you want to do when selecting a good anime show to watch look at what you're currently interested when you're watching the tv.

Based on what you already are watching and liking there should be some equivalent anime. For instance if you're heavy into watching sports you might want to select a sports anime. Hajime No Ippo, Prince of Tennis and etc... Secondly, you might want to determin how long your attention span is. Are you willing to watch 100+ episodes of an anime? Is 26 just the right size? Or are you the type of person that wants a very quick ending and 13 is just the right size for you. Thirdly, You're going to have to find a way to find that anime. Personally I prefer to download my first batch of episodes before i purchase them i nthe store. I want to get an understanding already of the anime I'm about to invest my time into. I'll do my research on the characters of the series first to see which onesbest fit my critiria.

Animated Shorts: From 'Saints' to 'Hellboy' (Newsarama.com via Yahoo! News)

Two years back, Animated Shorts did a feature on an up and coming animator, Brooke Burgess, and a web-only project he managed to get Fox to re-release as a DVD set, Broken Saints. To say this young Canadian has been a busy man since then is one hell of an understatement, particularly if you are a fan of Will Smith and/or Guillermo Del Toro.
